My Background
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Dalhousie University, a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Victoria, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.
In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients, meeting them where they are and supporting them as they move toward healing, growth, and meaningful change. My approach is grounded in respect, empathy, and empowerment—I’m committed to helping clients achieve their goals in ways that feel right for them. Together, we’ll work to chart a new and fulfilling path forward.
I have extensive experience supporting individuals navigating disability, anxiety, depression, chronic mental and physical health conditions, substance use, crisis, and trauma. This background has given me a deep understanding of the barriers people face and how best to support them through compassion and practical strategies.
I take a structural and anti-oppressive approach, maintaining awareness of inequality and systemic challenges that shape people’s lives. I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and value the many ways people experience and express their identities, cultures, families, work, and spirituality. My practice is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in trust and understanding.
When I’m not working as a counsellor, I enjoy studying Japanese, cycling, and walking local park trails. My two daughters keep me busy—we love cooking, swimming, and exploring local landmarks together.
My Counselling Approach
In my counselling practice, I strive to meet clients where they are, offering a compassionate and non-judgmental space for growth and healing. I encourage clients to share at their own pace and focus on building upon their strengths and personal resources. Together, we take a practical, goal-oriented approach to creating meaningful change—regularly checking in to see what strategies are most effective and adjusting as we go.
I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches, with a particular focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT offers practical, actionable tools for managing depression and anxiety, and many clients begin to notice improvements within a short time. From our first sessions, I share tools and techniques designed to increase joy and contentment while reducing stress and anxiety in daily life.
While CBT is the foundation of my work, I also draw from Motivational Interviewing (MI), Positive Psychology, and Exposure Therapy. My approach is flexible and client-led—together, we’ll find what feels right for you and tailor our work to align with your values, strengths, and goals.
Counselling can be a powerful and rewarding process for people from all walks of life. If you’re ready to explore your next steps, I invite you to reach out so we can discuss how I can best support you.
