Session Fees

Counsel Me Vancouver has carefully considered costs and insurance providers to make counselling more affordable for you. It’s our goal to provide you with highly professional counselling to as many Vancouver clients as possible. The fees are also in accordance with the recommended fee guidelines set forth by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, the BC College of Social Workers, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.

Complimentary Initial Consultations

PHONE CONSULT

The initial 15-20 minute phone session is free of charge. This call insures that we can assist your personal mental health concerns within our scope of practice and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions prior to scheduling an appointment. Basic information about scheduling, costs, coverage, and individual or couples counselling goals will be discussed in this call.  The phone consultation also allows us to prepare for your first session so that you get the most out of your counselling experience.

THERAPIST CONSULT

We offer a free 15-20 minute virtual consultation to people trying to decide on a therapist that best suits their needs. In this meeting, you have the opportunity to meet a therapist, ask any questions you might have, see the office, and get a general sense of the work that we’d be doing to meet your counselling goals. The consultation is not a necessity but is offered to help you decide on booking a session. During this meeting, time will not be spent on helping you work through your personal struggles but rather to get a better idea of suitability.

Insurance Coverage

Although counselling fees are not covered under the BC Medical Services Plan, many health benefit plans do include counselling coverage that reimburse you for visits to a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), a Registered Social Worker (RSW), or a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC or RPC-C). If your insurance is provided by one of the companies below, check with them to see how much your plan covers per calendar year. However, if your insurance company is not listed below, this does not mean that they won’t cover costs. Refer to your insurance company benefits package or Human Resources Department to find out what type of coverage you have.

Coverage Plans

The following plans are known to cover some or all costs of RCC counselling.

*Depends on the client’s reasons for seeking counselling and requires proper approval from the company.

**Call 604-660-3888 or toll free in BC at 1-866-660-3888 to enroll with CVAP.

***If involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident causing anxiety and trauma you may get approval from ICBC for counselling.

Additional Coverage Options

If your insurance company does cover counselling, simply provide the receipt Counsel Me Vancouver gives you to your insurance company and they will reimburse you.

If you find that counselling visits are not covered under your plan, you may want to contact your employer, Human Resources Department, or insurance company directly to request a small change to the plan’s coverage. This isn’t difficult, doesn’t cost the employer anything, and at the same time increases your employee benefits if they agree to the change. Most employers like to increase the amount of benefits that their employees can access, especially when it does not cost the employer any additional fees. Please use the link below to access a document with the information you will need to put into your own letter when making this request.

Counselling is a smart investment in yourself

From time to time, we reward ourselves with a treat-a cup of coffee, a new electronic gadget, a massage, perhaps a new watch or clothing. However, we often forget the importance of our mental well-being. Consider rewarding your inner life and budgeting some of this money for counselling. There is no better, long-term investment than improving the quality of your life-your health, well-being, and relationships. Counselling can help alleviate problems before they take physical, mental, and financial tolls. Make your mental health a priority and improve your quality of life.

How to make a Payment

Payment can be made at the beginning or end of each session by credit card, eTransfer, check, or cash. You can pay per individual session or buy a session package to save on some of the cost.

Though we’re happy to accept any of the above forms of payment, we regularly pay huge fees to banks and credit card companies to process credit card transactions.  By paying by eTransfer or Cash, it really helps us keep the costs down and the service awesome.  Let us know your preference after your first session.
