My Background

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor born and raised in Vancouver. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling and have been working in this field for over a decade. My experience spans across various settings, including nonprofit organizations, the private sector, EFAPs, healthcare, and even an independent IB school.

What drives me in my work is a genuine passion for helping clients find personalized solutions to their concerns and discovering their inner strength, even in the face of challenging circumstances.

When I’m not in the therapy chair, I love exploring the parks of the Lower Mainland with my two young children. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature and enjoy quality time together. I also make it a priority to indulge in date nights, both near and far, with my loved ones. Whether it’s exploring the local culinary scene or going on exciting adventures, these moments allow me to recharge and focus on self-care.

One of my hobbies is experimenting with trendy recipes and cooking for my family and friends. I find joy in creating delicious meals and sharing them with loved ones, as it brings people together and nourishes both body and soul.

Ultimately, my journey as a counsellor and as an individual are deeply intertwined. I strive to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space for my clients, where they can explore their challenges and tap into their own resilience. It’s an incredible privilege to be a part of their transformative journeys and witness their growth.

With empathy and a commitment to ongoing learning, I aim to offer a therapeutic experience that promotes healing, growth, and self-discovery. Together, we navigate life’s challenges, embracing strength and compassion along the way.

Counselling Approach

As a therapist, my approach is rooted in the belief that understanding and addressing the impact of trauma is crucial for healing and growth. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment for my clients, and I draw upon a range of therapeutic modalities to provide the most effective and personalized care possible.

One of the modalities I utilize is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which focuses on identifying and building upon a client’s existing strengths and resources. By helping clients envision and work towards their desired outcomes, this approach empowers them to make positive changes in their lives. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and helps clients develop healthier patterns of thinking and coping.

Furthermore, I am trained in the Gottman Method, which is particularly effective in couples therapy. This approach emphasizes strengthening the friendship and intimacy in relationships, as well as improving communication and conflict resolution skills. By using evidence-based techniques and interventions, I aim to help couples build stronger and more fulfilling connections.

Recognizing the interconnectedness of individuals within their families and social systems, I also employ Family Systems therapy. This approach acknowledges that the well-being of an individual is influenced by their relationships and broader family dynamics. By exploring and addressing these dynamics, we can create positive changes that benefit the individual and their loved ones.

I am particularly passionate about working with clients who are grappling with issues such as anxiety and depression, as well as those experiencing family conflict and communication challenges. Marital concerns, parenting struggles, stress management, self-esteem, and anger management are also areas of focus in my practice. I believe that by addressing these issues holistically and collaboratively, we can unlock new possibilities for personal growth and healthier relationships.

Ultimately, my goal is to provide compassionate and effective therapeutic support to my clients, helping them navigate their challenges and build more fulfilling lives.

Counselling Can Help

There is clear proof that counselling, when skillfully done, can provide the effective tools to speed up the healing process and prevent concerns from re-emerging. Counselling is the professional approach to seek when you’re ready to make a change. Through my practical experiences and work as a counsellor, I’ve come to believe that people have the answers to their personal struggles within themselves. During the process of counselling, research shows that strategies and answers can be uncovered so people learn how to live stronger, more resilient lives.
