My Background

My name is Reagan Lyle (she/her/hers) and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor who holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. I am a settler in Vancouver, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Psychology at Seattle Pacific University and my Master of Counselling Psychology at Adler University. My background in both philosophy and psychology equip me well in creating space to tend to the abstract, complex, and remarkable journey of being human.

I am committed to sensitively and compassionately walking beside you through the counselling process. Together, we can approach challenges, obstacles, and suffering with curiosity and care. By accessing the rich wisdom of your body, emotions, and relationships, I hope to support you in connecting more deeply to the values you desire to embody in your life. I aspire to bring acceptance, warmth, and enthusiasm to each of our meetings. Beginning counselling takes courage and tenacity. I consider it a privilege to journey beside you towards greater authenticity, flourishing, and wellbeing.

My experience counselling students in the university setting, offering crisis intervention support, and food-based charity work in the Downtown Eastside have deepened my understanding of both the universality and the uniqueness of being human. We all desire to feel loved, understood, safe. Yet, each of us have our own distinct story – informed by identity, culture, and systemic context. I strive to create space for both the universal and unique aspects of your experience by developing a personalized approach that meets you where you are.

When I’m not at Counsel Me Vancouver, I love lifting weights in the gym, spending time by the ocean, dancing, watching movies, snuggling my little cat, Vida, and laughing with my friends.

Counselling Can Help

There is clear proof that counselling, when skillfully done, can provide the effective tools to speed up the healing process and prevent concerns from re-emerging. Counselling is the professional approach to seek when you’re ready to make a change. Through my practical experiences and work as a counsellor, I’ve come to believe that people have the answers to their personal struggles within themselves. During the process of counselling, research shows that strategies and answers can be uncovered so people learn how to live stronger, more resilient lives.

Counselling Approach

My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, relational, and experiential. I draw from several evidence-based theories, including Existential-Humanistic therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am passionate about engaging with therapeutic research and continuing my education through additional certification and training. Through this eclectic and research-based approach, I am prepared to offer individualized and holistic support to each client.

I have experience supporting young adults and adults with a diversity of concerns, including LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals, anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, grief and loss, trauma, life transitions, university students, and existential concerns (e.g., questions about life’s meaning, death, values, and fulfillment).

I am honoured to be with you in this season of life and I welcome you as an advocate, ally, and confidante.
